Hi Guys an Girls, is it just me or is the uk section of fishing lure providers giving us the short end of the stick ? I have been looking at the spro range inpiticular. £23-25 where as our American brothers and sisters have it for $19.95 !! How can this be ? A conversion of nearly 100% profit !!! And if try to import postage is an additional $15 makes buying them gets less of a kick in the teeth bit still ridiculously over priced for our market !!

It's the way it's always been.

In part, it's economies of scale and market pressures because US angling is so lure oriented.

In part, it's blatant profiteering.

You can get seriously stung with US imports though.

And not just because the £ vs $ rate is carp at the moment.

Big suppliers like Cabelas and Bass Pro will charge you 40% P&P, then you get hit for VAT at 20% of cost + P&P, then the post office will bill for the privilege of paying VAT.

I used to buy a lot of stuff in Singapore but that's not cheap any more. Malaysia is better but the weak pound still means that the days of £40 Stradics are gone.

Spro lures impirticular phone , one I have been looking at are the BBZ 1 Jr 6" floating - absolutely rediculas costs

I wouldn't pay that for any Spro lure. They're alright but nothing to write home about.
