Think I'll just stay at home and melt!

Downright dangerous if you aren't used to it and somewhat prepared for it.

I dunno what the UK media are saying but from long experience with temperatures like those, I strongly suggest you

- Drink lots of water. Drink if you are thirsty. Drink if you are not. In that sort of heat if you don't pee some every hour or so, you need to drink more.

- Wear a large head covering with vents.

Youngsters in their 20s-30s can afford to take a few chances but us older fuds and young children cannot. That stuff can make you seriously sick or kill you if you aren't careful.

That being said, I still fish until the temp gets over 33º and stays there. Sweat a bunch but still fish. In the Red River article we saw 32-33º most days and I am younger than Jerry by over a year since he is 60.

Newt:

I dunno what the UK media are saying

I was dragged along to Maidstone for some shopping yesterday :(

Some of the electrical goods shops had hand-made signs outside saying 'NO FANS'

My daughter's fiance missed the chance of buying a fan for their flat in London, when the only one he saw was priced at £60 (almost double the normal price), and he didn't want to encourage the rip-off.

Last I heard, he was roaming London, unsuccessfully looking for one.

They are describing the heat in their flat as 'unbearable' :(

I think I'll not be fishing at all this weekend,it is just too hot for comfort.

However, tomorrow I have to go back up on the roof,in full sun,try putting your thermometers out there and see what temperature they register.

BTW I'm working with a South African guy at the moment,he's ten years my junior and feeling it worse than me,not used to the humidity at all.
