Internet Explorer doesn't work for long

If I have the computer on for long, Internet Explorer (IE6) ceases to work, although there's no problem with Outlkook Express. Restarting always sorts it out, but it's becoming a nuisance.

 

I'd add that it may only be after I haven't used IE for some time, but I'm not sure about this.

 

Any ideas?

How do you mean it ceases to work? does it lock up or stop loading pages?

 

ditch IE and get firefox

For the past month everytime I fire up IE I have been hit by PopUps, Error Messages, Viri, and shutdowns !!!!

 

Chuck it in the wastebin and use Mozilla FireFox instead !!!

 

No problems at all ....

I like Firefox too but i wonder about the bit where if you get lots of popups etc using IE, then switch to FF everythings alright? arent the programs that are plaguing you on IE still on your system somewhere?

Have you run an up-to-date virus scan?

 

It sounds a bit like the Blaster worm/virus, but that depends on your Operating System.

Norton's is on automatic update and also does a full scan every week. Nothing found. I also do a weekly check with SpyBot and Adaware, and clear out anything found.

 

I'd add that this is on a new Dell computer running XP Pro complete with service pack 2 pre-installed.
