I've bought Conoflex blanks from the Bait and Tackle centre in Southend and from Gerrys in Morecombe. I've also bought Zziplex from Gerrys.

They will always try and get you to let them build the rod for you, so be insistent that you only want the blank.

I have been asking for info on Sportex importers, but with no response. The first rod I bought was a Sportex. I pushed holiday makers' luggage all over Weymouth one summer to buy it. Had a soft spot for them ever since. Julian Shambrook has Sportex based rods on his site, but, according to a previous post, he will not supply blanks.

Alan Taylor might be able to get hold of something in Holland, I thought, but as yet perhaps he has missed my postings on the subject.

Cue: Alan Taylor.

I'm the same Jim, I'm using two of these rods just now and they are perfect for the job :) I had managed to pick them up second hand for less than £40.00 each. My own one still had the cellophane wrapping on the handle and both were fitted with full AFTCO rollers.

I’m now looking to get at least another couple of them for the boat.

I’ve taken a chance an sent an E mail to Julian to see if he would do part built on these blanks.. no harm in asking is there. If he wont I’ll get a price on the completed rod if he will do them as a last resort.

I’ve also got my local tackle shop making inquiries as to sourcing the blanks, so if I find out anything I’ll let you know.

:):)
