January porn on Ebay

This was a dangerous thread, after a solid hour of browsing I've put a bid in on a unnecessary couple of rods.

Welcome to the circus ... just don't read any of the similar threads that pop up about centrepins!

I've often thought about buying one of them myself RUDD and as you say they don't come up that often. Thing is i'm smitten with my normarks :).

There are a good few Titans on ebay, only ever owned a Normark black medallion beach caster myself.

Brian (Lutra) was after a good rod for trotting and he needed something that was good for dace and also had backbone enough for barbel and chub etc as they often pop up together on his river so you just don't know what's coming next. He plumped for the MKII Avenger and as far as I know he's happy with it. I have quite a few different float rods from various manufacturers and imo nothing comes near the Avenger for all round trotting.

They're no longer available new from the shops (unfortunatly) and you need to hunt the usual places for 'em.

Anyone in the market for what must surely be one of the most derirable rods in existence?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Chris-Yates-Barbus-Maximus-Barbel-Split-Cane-Rod-/131087821679?pt=UK_SportingGoods_Fishing_FishingRods_EH&hash=item1e85716b6f

Not at all a daft price as it stands, for what it is ... wonder where it will end up?

Haven't seen many Barder rods on e-bay but those I have seen generally sell for less than the price of a new one which is currently £1600, the complete opposite to Lyhe centrepins (and the opinion of the seller). A slightly older Maximus sold in July 2013 for £950

This is the earlier version @ 11'9", the Maximus MkII is now 11', don't know if there are any other differences.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

These are the ones that seem to attract an unbelievable price:

As for that glorified garden cane that started this thread, what really is the attraction?

Same seller as the Map Parabolic Dave Harrell Ltd Edition.

Went for 83.00 in the end, makes the 50.00 I paid last year taste so much better.

IMO Leeda/Map made a series of Rods up there almost alongside the Normarks with a quality blank and full Fuji fittings.

When I say almost, they did not fall into favour with the then current open match circuit.

Hold on What's this:

Just looked through that old thread Rudd and noticed bamboo is a guest now...anyone know what's happend to him ? If I remember rightly he was a keen centrepin enthusiast and had been a member of the board for quite some time.

Final price on the Kevlar Barbel was £255 - and they were only £200 brand new!

£200 was the rrp, Andrew; they sold from between £160-180. Mine was £120 odd at this time last year.

I was bidding on these two but certainly didn't need the pair, at least not at £50 a piece.

Ended up with this one in the end, for some tench fishing. More money then I wanted to spend, another wonderful display of ebay madness. I'm going to have to start getting rid of a rod or two at this rate.

There's a couple of others I hopefully won't win
