no cod in that part of the tyne

Dont really go that far north urwin. some of the northumberland anglers may be able to help. The areas I fish are from Bempton cliffs to the south and boulby/hummersea to the north. But better cod fishing will be difficult to find anywhere in the uk.

Im not sure what its like for northumberland but the shore form guide in sea angler for my area aint far off the mark, except steve I'anson never speaks about the area he fishes.

Try fishing Cullercoats harbour on the south side at low water after a big sea. Also Whitley pipe at low water and night fishing on Whitley Bay beach by Watts slope.

It would also be worth your while going down the beach on a big tide armed with pen and paper and noting down gullies and channels,sandbanks etc.If you do not know the beach topography you be launching your gear out 100yds and be fishing in inches of water on a sandbank!

Try phoning Temples tackle shop as well,they should put you on a mark or two.
