Photo Of The Day.

Severus, it's an ambition of mine to photograph an Owl in the wild, & your missus goes & snaps one in your back garden, that's hardly fair. :( It's a cracking shot though, the Owl looks massive, well done to Mrs severus! :clap3:

I'll relay your kind comment to her, Rabster. :) That was the first owl we've seen in the five years we've been here, so it was a complete surprise to see it in action. I hope you get your chance sometime soon.

BTW, I noticed your shot of a Pochard getting chased off by a Coot last week. That was a nice photo. Is that bird related to Canvasback ducks by chance?

Hi Ken, I hope you've not been carried off & eaten alive by that huge owl?

I'd not previously heard of a Canvasback, but having just done a google I see how similar the Pochard & Canvasback are. From having a quick read it would seem they are related, nicked from somewhere on the net: -

Pochards are superficially similar to the closely related North American Redhead and Canvasback.

As for the Coot, I snapped one at close quarters earlier today (shame i chopped its tail off).

Rabs, that Coot shot is a cracker....I have tried loads of times and the b#####s just won't keep their heads still.

Good body shots, but ALWAYS get a blured head.

Cheers Den.

I'm getting a tad worried that I'm boring folk with my birding shots, but as POTD should always be near the top of the board & birding stuff is what I take, I keep on posting 'em to give it a hoof.

What we really need is some of those excellent landscapes shots that Randles fella takes.

Will hook some out in a wee while, I didn't want to post too many as they can quite easily become "samey" if you know what I mean..:D

BTW..I am enjoying your birdie shots also, so dont stop. Thats something I've only just started to do myself, its quite a challenge in itself.

Rabs, I think I have posted about 6 different shots of "my" Robin :)

I liked the "pic of the day" on the nonfishing chat (well I did start it off :) ) bit more spontaneous than a comp I think.

I see the next comp is for Architecture, suppose we will get a load of "boring" shots of castles and other buildings :) I know where there is a castle near me, so watch out :)

There is another aspect to this though, it does make you think about what others may think of your pics !

Another edit...I got my Nikon converter lens today, still waiting for the adaptor tube, but it looks promising, if not, it goes straight back. The other Kenco lens I bought is rubbish.
