As Father Ted would say, that would be an ecumenical matter. Some groups say yes, others no. They are mostly stunned, but there is an exemption in law that says they don't have to be.

Why say the prayers if the chicken cant hear them?

Believe NOTHING anyones says or writes unless you witness it yourself and even then your eyes can deceive you

None of this "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" crap it just means i have at least two enemies!

Really needs bit more input from the livestock here. Get the animals to repeat the prayers and a signed acknowledgement that they agree to being stunned etc.
