I don't care about who says what prayers at slaughter, but there should be no exemptions for the laws on stunning - for halal or kosher.

I don't think it makes a lot of difference with chickens. I've thrawed the necks of hundreds of them and the were not stunned first.

The problem isn't what people don't know, it's what they know that just ain't so.

Sure - but if it isn't necessary to stun them for religious slaughter, it isn't necessary for secular slaughter either. The rules should be the same either way.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

I've only seen a pig being slaughtered on a farm, back in the days when you could still kill your own. A smack between the eyes with tha back of a felling axe, followed by a slit throat.

If you don't want to eat halal meat, stick to pork. If you are REALLY concerned about animal welfare, don't eat anything with a face.

Over 2 million chickens are processed in the UK each day. 90% are killed to Halal standards. That means that they are slaughtered to exactly the same standards as other chickens, ie stunned and throat cut. They just play a tape of a Muslim prayer in the background whilst they are doing it.

This is the same as in just about every commercial abattoir in the UK. It has little to do with religion and much to do with profit.

It is too expensive to run two slaughter lines so they just run the one. Some meat will be labelled Halal and sold to the appropriate outlets and the rest will go to the regular outlets that have been buying it for years.

Nothing new here

Before I worried too much about the comparatively few animals slaughtered without stunning I would be much more concerned about the millions of animals reared in misery, transported in vile conditions hundreds of miles across country because that is how the supermarket wants it and treated with complete disregard for their suffering during the entire period.

It's why, when I was able, I shot my own or bought it from people who shot it.

I wish I still could.

so not really halal then.

Yes halal, as agreed to by the relevant Muslim authorities.

They were probably not stuffed in plastic boxes, loaded onto a lorry, unloaded in a factory and hung up by their feet, possibly stunned, possibly had their throat cut properly and possibly gutted and plucked whilst still alive.

I know which ones I would rather eat
