Like Chris (rusty) I also had a couple of reels orderd from CL. Infact i've not long arrived back in from paying him a visit at his home to pick them up. Chris L showed me his place of work and a few different models of his reels including one that he's not yet let anyone see...very nice too !

I picked up two reels from Chris today, a 4 1/4 inch by 1 inch Scotton long trotter in black with button check and a Floatmaster in the same spec's (long trotter has the yelloed ivory handles). Chris L's workmanship is pretty much as good as it gets and his attension to detail is a credit to him, he really is a perfectionist !

It was very nice to meet up with Chris at his home and have a chat over a brew....he's a lovely man full of enthusiasum for his reels and I wish I could have spent more time chatting with him...not to worry, i'll be back over to see him again soon ;).

I always liked the scotton long trotter ,but I went for the float master when it finally came to ordering ,mine will have a side lever and stumpy handles ,colour wise standard or whatever batch colour they're that week ,I did consider maroon/burgundy to go with my revolver but for expediency went neutral .

Good job you chose different handles ,big question is though which is best ?

float master or scotton long trotter ???

Gorgeous!

What's interesting is that, though anglers are rarely surprised by a totally grim day, we nearly always maintain our optimism. We understand pessimism because our dreams are sometimes dented by the blows of fate, but always our hope returns, like a primrose after a hard winter. ~ C. Yates.

Great looking reels Ian, handles look a bit big for my personal liking, but that's about it.

Even after seeing how good they look, I still don't think I could wait that long for them.

John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

They are lovely reels, I particularly like the horn handles. You must be very pleased with them Ian.

Thank's for the comments gent's :).

The horn handles do look nicer in the pic's Chris but I prefer the off white ivories, they look much nicer in the flesh than they do in the pic's ;):D . Roll on opening day !

Beautiful, but if you and Rusty don't catch more, big and better fish than last season with them, I'm going to to tell you they are sh1t and not worth a button. :)

LOL Brian, we all know they won't catch amy more or any larger fish unless we get "lucky" which is what really counts "luck" :). I'm hoping they'll be nice to use though
