Usual end of May thread

Rusty

It does happen rusty and anglersnet gets a lot of views. My thinking is its not just my swim but somone elses too. Ive seen first hand what can happen when swims/waters are mentioned online and our daily record fish of the week section is a pretty good example too.

Just my opinion though.

Fair enough Andy, I take a different view but I wouldn't suggest that it's any more or less valid than yours.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Paul and I had our usual pre season tour of the Kennet valley followed by a couple of pints of pride in the pub making plans for the 1st week. Targets mainly involve tench and crucians with (hopefully) a barbel and chub or two thrown in at sometime during the opening few days.

It would be interesting to see some casual anglers wandering down on to that farm....home of a private syndicate...and see their reaction to the landowner's objections. It is rural Herefordshire we're talking about, not the home counties :bangin:

Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

I've actually booked the week off ,(I have too book my holidays in advance) but no real plans as one place I was planning on visiting I'm not sure whats going on with the venue ,this year .I do have a new (well new to me) 15ft trotting rod to try out and hopefully a nice new centrepin ,no hold on I've two centrepins to test out I forgot the little fugly aerial I brought last year .

i'll probably end up on the trent ,on a free stretch someware ,as I've no club memberships as of yet.

I've got stacks of pellets I'm unlikely to use, which I got for the crucian fishing. I'm very tempted to go and tip them all into the Thames and have a proper go for the bream in opening week. I've had a few from one stretch while chubbing in the winter, and the average size is pretty high. I quite fancy a day quivertipping for them.

I don't really get excited about the rivers til October/November though...

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music

When we first had a boat on the Thames years ago I used Pellets for everything after dark they caught me Chub,Barbel a few fabled old river carp and Bream lots and lots and lots of Bream double 22m halibut on a hair ......Bream triple 22m halibut ...Bream 34mm Catfish sized pellet with a 22mm on the same hair..... Bream never anything realy big Bream wise well certainly not compared to Anderoos Wingham standard but would be an interesting thing if a few of us tried on different sections to see we may be surprised by the size and as a plus after dark turns up many things but a hint as to Chub areas .

I am in if only to wind up the mrs with the smell off pellets in the boat....Can`t think where matthew may choose to fish though !!!!!
