Looks like a Greylag Goose to me.

It does, it does, but wild Greylags are not normally found in N America.

Could be a fine fat feral farmyard goose - ie an escapee from a farm

Can you tell us a bit more about it Jan?

Well, this fine fellow was irate but hadn't gotten out-of-control to the extent I'd have said he was wild.

The link you had showed the bird in water. There was no water to be had anywhere. AND, the bird definitely had enough "padding" in the butt that it wouldn't be going over any fences in the foreseeable future. My Mom's favorite part of a bird was the "part that went over the fence last". I'm sure whe would get numerous meals from this critter.

I believe it was fenced in and going nowhere. Got rather irrate with me when I got right up to the fence and wanted to take pictures. Never did get any full frontal pictures though. I may try to get more pictures next time I'm down to visit our potter. I do have pictures of the bird w/o the wings all in a fuss.
