TF gear classic or Ikonix?

After receiving my JW youngs rod I sold a few more bits and pieces as the need for a new 'pin became too strong to resist! Narrowed it down to a TFG classic and an ikonix reel, I would love a Sheffield but the surplace money from my welder is going into savings for Mr Lythe.

Can't decide between the two, they both look nice and both a similar price so has anyone used either? Or are there any others I've missed in the £50 price bracket? I want a new reel rather than second hand

Matt realise you need one for the start and new gets you that conveinence but back to that old is cheap new better than known secondhand gear ,Personally I would bid on a few Okumas off the bay even the vt 1000 or whatever it is as well as the Sheffield are plentifull on the bay ,,,,picked up my Sheffield for 90 rips as Tigger would say and it was mint superb reel.

Give me a shout when you want to pick up the bed chair mate.

Like Steve i'd go for one of the okuma pin's. The Aventa pro's are fantastic reels and you can pick 'em up (second hand) for similar prices to the ikonix.

Here's a few on evilbay at the moment...

Oh, forgot to say, don't get the silver VT 1000, the bronze coloured Aventa VT 1002 is the one to go for.

If you picked one in good fettle then i'm sure you'll be happy with it, they really are top reels for the price ! A bit of advice....try not to overtighten the spool retaining centre screw and after use I always slacken it right off.

Ikonix going for £32 at Dragon in their massive sale

The two best times to go fishing are when it's raining and when it's not

I hope it's a good'n paid £65 delivered for it off the bay, really am feeling like a kid waiting for Christmas day now, new rod and reel and a swim perfect for trotting that I've had barbel feeding in the last 4 times I've been up there
