I think that the authorities in this country have not thought our national anthem through in this modern age.

It alienates two sections of the nationals immediately - the Republicans will not pay homage to the queen or any other royal - then we have the atheists!!

GOD save the QUEEN?

Surely they should change it!! What about "Land of Hope and Glory" or "Rule Britania"?

 

Well if you're saying what about the Athiests that lets ''Land of Hope and Glory '' out then doesn't it.

 

Does Britania still rule the waves ?

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

and what a mistake that was.... obviously done by those who would never try to sing it. "America" and "America the Beautiful" are the songs we sang in school along with the "Battle Hymn of the Republic".

An American friend once described his anthem as "unsingable" ;)

I always thought it sad that Australia abandoned Waltzing Matilda, just because it centered on the sheep stealing activities of an itinerant vagabond. :(

 

(Anyway I much prefer the jauntier Queensland version)

How about putting words to the theme tune of Steptoe and Son!

Someone once said to me "Dont worry It could be worse." So I didn't, and It was!

Can't see the logic of having to come up with an anthem that satisfies all sections of society,. take out the pleading to God...Save The Queen and Bless America which smacks of desperation to be forgiven for it's Nations sins then you are left with lyrics that could be applied to any other country. Anthems are really just a bit of sabre rattling, well for those that have sabres to rattle, and are meant to put smaller countries in their place.

Nothing wrong with Jerusalem, or the Dam Busters theme, or maybe The Theme Tune from Bridge Over The River Kwai, , not one mention of God in any I think.

Personally I think Cliff's Summer Holiday would be an ideal choice for 2012, and turn the whole event into a huge street party to hide the huge underspend
