I brought angling times today, didnt see it mentioned in there, although I havent fully read it yet.

where from? bough beech, llangefedd? would be most impressed if it came from a natural water, one of the lochs for instance as opposed to a trout water, but i supppose that is unlikely.

Didnt hear anything definate on the grapevine. The Mail says that the BRFC will be considering a claim for a 50lb 12ozs fish caught by a R.Simpson from an undisclosed Dumphries and Galloway loch.

Im gob smacked that a non trout res water has done such a fish. But incredibley excited!

Hope Fudgey's looking in as he may have a bit more info.

The report also said that one top English specialist had seen the photos has doubts about the claimed weight (here we go again!) I for one would love to believe that against all odds we have at last got a confirmed 50!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

If it si accepted, and I hope that it is, it will settle the record once and for all. For many pikers, but not the BRFC, Tommy Morgans 47 (Thanks Dave) pounder was the record. But now it looks like that has been beaten so we no longer have a record and a pretender, unless, of course, we keep Garvin's Irish pike as the record. At the time of capture that part of Ireland was still part of the UK. Brillient news, great scoop by the Mail!

Morgan's fish was claimed at 47lb 11oz. I'm not one who accepts it as a record though.

As I know the water where the 50lb 12oz is supposed to have come from I'll believe it when I see a picture of it... or not, as the case may be.
