Great photo Den.

I love watching grebe and heron on the water, I have no problem with anglers taking the odd fish, so I certainly don't mind grebes taking their share. It all adds to the balance.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Do you think we could get one of these on a string at Lidl with a "fish finder label" on it.

No batteries

No loose connections

Nah it would only upset the VMs :sun:

Cracking photo Den,

I didn't think they took fish that sort of size, not that it matters though, the grebes a genuine freshwater hunter as far as I know so deserves his place on the lake.

On the lakes I fish in the frozen north east, I only ever see one or two pairs at most so I can't see them doing a lot of damage, tend to eat small siver fish as well.

Last summer i watched grebes chasing bleak on the thames, i thought it was pike making the swirls to start with, but with the aid of polarised glasses, it was grebe i could see. bloody fast underwater, grebe are natural predators, i dont worry about them too much, not at all in fact, they deserve the chance to get a meal (providing its natural fish there eating, and not someones commercial stock). they look nicier than those scrawny cormorants too.

Super Birds, they only eat to survive so good luck to um.

As opposed to cormorants, that eat fish to impress their drinking mates?

(sorry couldn't resist ;) )

Bleeding heart liberal pinko, with bacon on top.
