My New Toy

Today I purchased a new toy, my 87 year old grandfarther has givern his 6 grand children some money, so I decided to spend mine on an canon EOS 20D.

I know nothing about photography but my farther is pritty good and will be teaching me. I have a 1Gig flash card and a 18-55mm lense.

Up until now I had a small easy use digital camera and I certainly got my moneys worth out of it, family and pet snaps as well as my angling pics.

I have been snaping nuisance swans at the gravel pit we are curently fishing until the bass show up.

Way to go Sam !!

I have just upgraded from a D60 to the 20D. Have had it for about 3 weeks now, and am still coming to terms with it.

A fantastic piece of kit !! :)

The Older I get .. The better I was.

Sam, you could do worse than read this article from me here

Hopefully it will give you an understanding of what the camera is doing and why, but stay away if you can from all the fancy modes and practice with full manual right from the start.

Good luck!

Sam, I got a 350D for Xmas off the wife, and love it. As has been said previously, get a "decent" lens for zoom work, ( BTW, I am a total learner here), I also got an 80-200mm lens..which enables some good shots.....

So far I cant fault the camera......

Have fun !!!!!

Sam. great choice. I recommend you join this forum and start reading and posting there. It is very informative and the posters have a wide range of abilities from some great pros (and amateurs) to complete beginners.
