AN Pike teach in 2008/9

Got let down at last minute on the venue I really wanted as a a treat to both new and old pike angling AN members. BUT just sorting alternative this week will post as soon as possible.

 

After my first Pike outing this week, the confidence of having an accompanying 'mentor' has ensured that I will most definitely attempt catching these great predators again. Prior to actually fishing, I'd read page after page about when to strike, whether to use gloves or not, how to straddle the fish and lift the jaw, what instruments/equipment are essential, barbed, semi-barbed or now single hooks..... what a mine field and it would seem that everyone has their own methods!

 

There doesn't seem to be much activity on this thread for the last few weeks; It would be a shame if it doesn't happen as it seems there are several members out there who like me would love to watch an experienced angler show them the ropes, but unlike me don't have anyone able to show them.

Budgie just to let you know I was talking to Les about somethign else & asked about pike fishing but there is nothing happining there so he dosen't think anyone would catch. Hasn't been any out for ages.

If possible i would like to come along to. Caught a pike the other day when i was bringing a swim feeder of maggots in and it would be good

to try and attack some of them a bit more next season. Thanks

Really sorry about this people but after being let down on my first choice venue the good old reserve of Les's seems a bit pointless as well now. I will keep looking but if anyone can offer a venue which may produce a few fish and has somewhere at hand for the "class room" type stuff then I would be most gratefull.

Would love to be shown proper handling techniques for pike and maybe a few pointers on the art of lure fishing as i have started to do more of this recently.

 

Is there any more news on dates or venues for the future
