ijm considering buying one,but im just wondering if i buy one do i have to have a footplate as well on my box or can i just have my 4 legs?

A pole rest will probably fit onto two legs of your box ----- just don't stand up when you've got ten metres of pole in front of you !!

What about fish finders and bait boats?

it depends what sort you are getting but even if it is a PUPPS type you may find it will be a bit close to you if you dont have the footplate to mount it on.

I did hear that Peter tried a pole one time but when you are in a boat and drop the pole sections you remove, they don't float well so it's pretty much a new pole per fish which gets expensive.

As Nick said the Pupps if you aint got foot plate fits on box legs.
