Only a few Seals and the really nice ones, cos they feed from the nets.That's not a bad idea though!

a fishing aquaintance has seen one pick a 20lb pollack off the bottom about 50yds away from their rods...needless to say they didnt catch much then

had a similar experience when I lived in Bermuda ..... fishing from my own Boston Whaler over a reef ......

 

3 rods hitched into gimbals so they wouldn't go 'walkies' ...

 

12lb test rod went out like a javelin before I could put me beer down ......

 

tried dragging the other rods for it, but no luck .....

 

probably an amberjack!!

Just had a phone call from a skipper,who will post a full report on our site.A seal took the ----'n'------ and nearly the rod over the side.So it would appear you lot were right.Well done! I'll never be able to tell the story in the same way anymore.

Yes. I had a similar experience this October whilst fishing with Davy. I`d just been investigating a `knock` on one of the skate reels, only to turn round to find the light rod I`d been doggie bashing with, had disappeared from its holder!! I`d turned round in responce to cries of, `Paul, your rod`!! Luckily it was still attatched to a laniard fixed to the gunells.

The culprit? Nothing bigger than a 4lb spurdog. Just goes to show, it doesn`t take a monster to drag a rod over the side.

Haven't got the full report yet but the little bugger spat the hook out and no damage was done,to either Seal or Angler.
