Tope North East

I think you would be suprised just how many Tope are off the North East coast. they have been caught as a commercial bycatch off the dogger bank for years. Nobody bothered to fish for them off the Holderness coast (recently described as the future capital of Tope fishing, don't tell Ian that though lol) untill recently and believe me they are not hard to locate, basically get the baits down and the fish will find you. I don't for one minute think the Tope reach Flamborough head and then do a u turn and head back down south.

Im looking forward to see how well Andrew does. I here he's a half decent boat angler, and the word on the grapevine, (from those with knowledge of past Tope catches arouind the Whitby area), is the area Andrew fishes is amongst the right places to try.

many years ago(about 20) i was trammel netting in maw wyke in march and had a tope weighed in at just over 3 stones sad to say it only made £2 on the market :(

Slackline.

I hope that you and the darlick will be ok fishing together in maw wyke?

I wouldn’t like to be a tope in the bottom of your boat with you two arguing who caught it. Come to that I wouldn’t like to be in one of the caravans up on the cliff.

:)

Tope will swim in very shallow water right up to the beach as long as there is prey to keep them intrested.

Hi topecatcher do you know(silly question ) what their normal prey fish is or do they have a varied diet Its just that we are having a run of makerel and bait fish right now so they my be on the prowl
