  1. We also had plenty of fish biggest a ling of 20lbs although the biggest Cod was about 9lbs. Think I might check out the deepwater myself soon haven't been out there this year. Cheers Dave
  2. Trot-on was fishing South of me off Scarborough today Paul, have you guys caught all the Cod off Whitby??
  3. Nigel has said a few times he thinks we have a slight recovery around here - he's catching the things himself.. Bloody hell!! must be alive with em!!
  4. I can only vouch for my neck of the woods but if the Mackerel are there so will the Tope.
  5. Tope will swim in very shallow water right up to the beach as long as there is prey to keep them intrested.
  6. I think you would be suprised just how many Tope are off the North East coast. they have been caught as a commercial bycatch off the dogger bank for years. Nobody bothered to fish for them off the Holderness coast (recently described as the future capital of Tope fishing, don't tell Ian that though lol) untill recently and believe me they are not hard to locate, basically get the baits down and the fish will find you. I don't for one minute think the Tope reach Flamborough head and then do a u turn and head back down south.
  7. The fishings very good at the moment with plenty of codling and Pollock about. The Tope should arrive in numbers any day now.
  8. Hi Les I would agree with the longline although I would guess probably some time ago when the fish was probably much smaller
  9. We was off Scarborough last week when the spotter plane came losely followed by the fisheries protection vessel. Point is though we could hear the fisheries officer calling over the radio to the commercial boats for at least an hour before they approached, ample warning I would think to prepare for a boarding if you were doing anything you should't be,
  10. Taking an angler flyfishing for Bass in two weeks time, never tried it before though we usually use plugs.
  11. South shore Bridlington down to Hornsea will produce Bass with a bit of a sea on,make the most of it while you can though cos the gill netters are on the increase!
  12. Strictly you should stick to the south pier during the summer although nobody will bother you after dark. Flat sandy bottom and shallow water limits catches to mainly dabs and whiting with mackerel on the larger evening tides.

  14. Yet tried it and caught on it although I was using it cocktail fashion with another bait. Think mine came from Jaybee. Would use it again though which is more than I would say about ultrabite.
