Spent a weeks angling for carp by day and cats by night and landed my 1st ever catfish, (more of a kitten really) on a chunk of squid freelined on a size 2 hook.

Aint it cute??

Nice one Steve! glad to see youve got one.I was going to post a photo of the first cat I ever caught at night to make you feel better....but even that was a bit bigger (by inchs mind you!).

 

Will get Andrew to post a pic of his first French cat....now that is small!

 

You are spot on there Pete little kittens are cracking looking fish.

 

Dan, what have you been told about taking halucenagenic love drugs? :P

Iv taken to sniffing halibut pellet oil, its cheaper and gets me that little bit closer to thinking like a cat ;)

 

 

I'm off to swim the margins to snap some top sections :headhurt:

hi steve, new to this sort of fishing, read your post, and that you caught it on squid. can i ask what squid and size, i want to get into specimen fishing, carpe and pike through the winter, so im getting as much knowledge on baits as i can, i would be greatful if anyone can help. i can get my hands on loads of squid, sardines, mackerel. all that sort of thing at next to nothing prices.

i think if you look closely you can see the peice of squid on the unhooking mat .
