I think it was the right descision, Hamilton did gain an advantage when taking the short-cut. It was a great contest and a good drive, but rules are rules. A drive through penalty is the usual penalty (about 25 secs).

How can you hope to get a stewards' decison overturned in your favour when the allegedly offending car wasn't red and Italian?

 

Furthermore, one of the FIA team has a company which works in PR for a company which produces famously red Ialian road-going cars bearing the same name as red Italian F1 cars. So no conflict of interest there then.
