You see one - you see four

Today (Monday) I had the pleasure of seeing four kingfishers all in the same place - obviously parents and two fledglings.

At one point all four almost landed on the same perch - that would have been perfect but two flew straight past.

Unfortunatey another day where the weather wasnt kind - ISO800 shooting at 1/25th :( Good job the Fujis are notoriously good at handling noise.

Had the weather been kinder and I could have used a faster shutter speed the last kingfisher shot here might have been a competition winner :)

Also I do like to end the day with at least one new species and today was a great diving beetle crawling across a stone.

On a slighly different note.

A bird watching friend and I build a small hide a couple of weeks ago beside a remote pond only he and I seem to visit mainly because it cant be seen from any direction, The hide is simply a garden screen made of rush and bought from Wilkinsons for £8.

Anyway - Colin left a message on my answering machine tonight to say he had been to the hide today and within minutes a kingfisher had landed on one of the perches we had stuck into the muddy borders of the pond. We know there are water rail on the pond so hopefully tomorrow I may get a shot of one.

Not getting pictures.

I hate getting up early, I didn't even realise there were two 6 o'clocks in one day!

I see them just fine. They just took a couple extra seconds to download. And might I say they are brilliant! Thanks for sharing.

Outstanding

Fishing seems to be my favorite form of loafing.

I know the joy of fishes in the river through my own joy, as I go walking along the same river.

What do you think if the float does not dip, try again I think.

Jay, I was considering making a "perch" out of an old branch and a few bits of tube, so I could "plant" it by the lake side. When I got my KF pics last year I propped a spare rod up in the rushes, and they were very obliging :)

I will get around to it before the Autumn :) to obsessed with the carp at the moment :)

I like the shot with the flapping wings, I have one or two of grenfinches like that..not that you can tell what they are, there is so much "flapping and whirring" going on.

I note that you mention a friend Colin who seems to share your interest, must make it a lot more fun....................maybe I should get myself a friend :)

Keep em coming please,
