something a bit different.

Just got it a few days ago from Craig Beverley (custom lures)

might be a little hard to see but the finish on these is second to none imo. with real roach skin! (farmed roach) attention to detail is great. too look at the fin, varnished then painted on then varnished again sorta 3d effect.

They look beautifully made Andy but at £35.00 if I wanted something that looked just like a Roach I would use a Roach.

I love the high quality stuff like this, but see them more as 'collectors' rather than 'users' - and some of the stuff being produced in the US is spectacular, often selling for 3 or 4 times what you paid Andy, even on auction on Ebay!

I've got a lure fashioned as a pike that is approaching TWO FEET long, that was a gift from a client in Poland a few years back. Everything he makes are one-offs, and nothing about them is compromised.

At my request, he made me another of approximately the same size, jointed about a third of the way in from the wrist of the tail - I HAVE trolled that (out of curiosity as much as anything else!) on a very large Stillwater not too far from you Andy, and it looked (to me) unbelievable in the water; I have to confess, at the time I really did not know whether I wanted it to remain unmolested and pristine, or get hammered by a resident crocodile :D

I soon bottled out and removed the lure from the water ... the guy is currently on with a perch of about 18" for me, which I hope to collect in May / June.

as far as lures go, yes! £25 for ordinary paint job, £35 for real skin. worth it though imo. ill only be using it on 100% snag free waters if I use it at all!

Yeah, it is quite expensive for a small lure, but if it makes you feel good when you look at it it's well worth it m8 :). People spend more than that on a meal and then crap it out a day or so later !

Disappointed.

Back in the 1950s, an American lure company (who else?) produced a lure entitled

"Virgin Mermaid"

Never saw one, but learnt that the accuracy of the first part of the title was ensured by the presence of a large treble hook.

Thought we were going to be shown one.......... but no!
