I have a Silva S12. Good quality, mid-range price wise, very pleased with it.

I got mine from Steve at www.jkmax.com.

They look good and can be bought for about £80. What about cheaper ones? are they any good?

I've just done a search of this forum under 'Handheld VHF' as I feel that I can no longer postpone such a purchase. (Been saying this for months !!!)

In Summary - the threads (and other advice that I have been given by helpful folk on this forum) suggests that :- you really need 5 watts of power as a minimum. Entel and Icom seem to be the preferred makes and Silva seems to be quite accessible price-wise but are not as well loved as the other two makes.

Have a look on :-

www.redcar-fish.co.uk

I am leaning towards Entel HT 640 (£150), or IC M71 (£180) or IC M31 £135)

Yet more decisions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
