Hiya mate,

1, Yes it's legal, despite what the anti's will have you believe.

2, Small wrasse will be fine, as long as you know thats what the Bass are, or could be feeding on.

3, Favorites would have to be Mackies and Whiting, (and don't be afraid to use a 12" fish), depending on the area and time of year, pout also a firm favorite. Its all dependant on conditions and how the fish are feeding, in some areas local to me they will feed on small wrasse, bullheads and blennies etc, these are then caught on light gear and used as livebait when drifting.

Hi we have had a great time this year down devon livebaiting using mackeral with 4/0 trebles hooked both top and bottom lip. No problem keeping them alive. We used this method while drifting over numerous wrecks. It is surprising how large the bait is in relation to the small size of bass that attacks it sometimes. Looking forward to more of the same next year, bottom, middle and top end of the channel.

cheers barry :sun:

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

:clap2: I prefer a single hook through the nose or top lip. I don't use trebles as I worry about the fish being unable to feed if the line breaks. The treble could hook into top and bottom lips and seal the mouth. It's just a personal thing as trebles are very effective catchers and I don't think I've lost more than a couple of fish due to the line being chafed but 1 is 1 too many if it can't feed. :clap2:

I'm with Norm, 6/0 J hook for livebaiting with mackies and larger livebaits, top lip hook, being carefull not to hook to far back of course.

Match the hook size to the bait, a 6/0 through the top lip of a small wrasse will leave your bait dead and also presentation won't be the best.
