Question for the Moderators

Just wanted to know the reason for the decision to lock the Bag Limits thread. I actually only wanted to thank Leon Roskilly for posting those links, which I can do by PM. But I notice it hasn't been moved to the Conservation page. So, I was just curious about the various criteria that apply, other than personal abuse, which I can't think was the case here.

Haven't read the thread, but if it was about bag limits, then it probably belonged in a different forum. When a thread is moved, it is standard practice to lock it in the original forum and leave a redirect. Don't take it personally - the moderators don't always move threads because there's anything inherently wrong with them. Sometimes, it's just a bit of Spring cleaning :)

Know what you mean mate, but I'm glad there's separate area for politics, as I'm keen to know more. As long as the sad stuff doesn't start spilling over onto our forum, I can just ignore it .

Still don't feel my question has been answered though, as the thread does not appear to have been moved, just locked.

There isn't any info on this in the Forum Rules. Can forum members apply to have a thread locked, as they can when asking for abusive posts to be removed?

Still don't feel my question has been answered though, as the thread does not appear to have been moved, just locked.

It had not been answered directly since no one knew the answer other than me and I had not seen this topic until a few seconds ago.

Normally, a topic that is angling/political would have been moved but the issues has been done to death recently in the poltical section so moving it there would not have made sense.

OTOH, the topic is right on point for sea kayak anglers and I know that lots of you only ever look in this forum so I wanted to make sure that as many as possible had a chance to at least know there was such an issue.

I felt that closing it but leaving it here was a good compromise.

Simon - no problems. It was a reasonable topic you started and had it not already & recently been done, I'd just have moved it and left a re-direct link on here for any interested folk.

David - I have no idea what that fish is. I caught it in the UK (Vagabond took the wife & I to several small lakes and put us on all sorts of fish that were new to me and this one was caught when we were with him). It certainly could have been a skimmer bream. I have the original photo at home and will post a larger shot of the fish so someone can ID it for me.
