Hi Folks,

Just found this site, Its great, so just to introduce myself, I have been fishing since about 1937 but I don't call myself an expert by any means, there are periods of my life when I've fished more than others, at the moment I'm into carp fishing but still enjoy the odd tench, or even a Gudgeon on a dead day.

Hello Alan

Yep, we've been keeping Samoyeds for 35 years, would never have another breed now. The Elkhound is a good looking breed too, they were on our short-list before we got our first sammy. On another forum I moderate, we have someone with 7 dogs - I think it works out at 5 Samoyeds, a Malamute and a Pomeranian

Here's their latest pup....

Hi Alan and welcome to the Forum!

Thank you Steve.

Hello again John, my wife shows the Elkhounds, the Spitz breeds are certainly are full of life, I think once you get into the Spitz breeds others can be a bit dull by comparison, but they are not everybodys cup of tea

They're flippin' noisy at times, I know that much :headhurt:

Will you be going to Crufts in a couple of weeks? I was hoping to get there as an observer this year and give a bit of support to a couple of the sams on the other forum, but it would cost too much - not only to get there, but also I'd want to buy most of the stuff they have for sale there! (we didn't know it at the time but ours was eligible for Crufts when we first got him - if we'd known, we would have entered him just for the experience!).

How good are Elkhounds with kids? The fact that sammies are very good with children was the main reason we went for the breed in the first place (I was just a kid at the time....)

Btw, I don't live too far from Spalding either, just on the other side of the Humber.

Take care, John
