strangest thing caught

Caught a tyre once whilst boat fishing out of Craster. It was no good though,it was even baldier than me!

I'm assuming it was lost closer to shore and somehow worked it's way out to where I found it as there was 40' of rope and a small rather flat buoy on it as well

A herring gull at Craster Harbour, and a small carpet from Amble pier.

`nuff said.

caught a strange fish with a syringe sticking out of its side.it was later identified to be a "drug haddock".aye the old ones are the best

Have caught a sheep on a lure at the Derwent Reservoir,snagged it on the backcast. It gave a tremendous account of itself till the hook pulled out!

Best catch I ever had,were 3 snatchers on River Esk- kept all their tackle,and got myself some lovely salmon for tea!

Once caught a set of plastic counterbalance scales whilst luring on the canal

Two spring to mind .......

 

a large sailboat off the end of Walton on Naze Pier at night and in very thick fog

...... he was yellin'

'Where the koof am I?',

To which there was a large chorus of:

 

'on a boat you silly sod!'

 

Not knowing where he was in the dense fog, I cast out as usual to hear a very loud ripping sound ..... apparently his foresail was full to capacity and my grip lead went right through it! Got it back, too!

 

The most unusual one for me was a 5lb codling which when gutted, had perfect 7" frog in its stomach .....

 

explain that one will yer?

I caught many strange things. i once caught a straw hat whilst makeral fishing. Its owner wasnt too pleased. it was still on his head at the time.

 

I caught the local inshore lifeboat once too.

 

before the cleaned up the sewer pipe, i caught 5 tampons 3 durex and many other delightful items all in one night. All adds to the flavour of a nice fish soup.
