i need a dedicated bag for my sea fishing gear .i bought a Mustad surf rucksack and was surprised at its size when it arrived yesterday (why cant they put the sizes in the description) its huge and totally useless for my needs (i might use it as a tent )

all i need is a bag that's waterproof that will hold 2 v large fixed spools ,several boxes for the usual beads and nicknack's and have a separate compartment for bait ,some pockets for spools and sarnies and a handy outside pocket for a rig wallet.

it will need to be strong enough to hold plenty of wired weights and straps so i can carry a chair.

in reality what i have bought in error but a 1/4 the size.

PS got a mustad surf rucksack spare W.H.Y.

any recommendations and i prefer under £20 not above

Aha.. don't forget Chesters, you will need room for rocks, if you catch any. :clap2:

noooo i always catch and return rocks

the titan bag in the link is too big still ,the titan bait and tackle ones look good but for some reason both sections are "cool" lined and destroyed easily by wayward weights etc ,but as usual with all the adverts the sizes are missing.

the expensive greys one looks nice but as usual no sizes.

the titan waist one looks ok but just what size reels do they mean?

been through most uk shops ,most are crap or overpriced .

maybe america has the goods but do they sea fish ?

the usual plano type boxes they use leak like sieves ,i had more water in my ancient one getting it home than i was fishing in!

I'd go for anything design for military type applications. The Berghaus range is pretty good, the RAF Regiment and Army were issued them a few years ago, still got mine that I "acquired" (Uncle is an RAF Supplier) and its fantastic, robust with quality clips etc. Its not cheap but maybe a quick ebay search will turn up a good secondhand one?

30l is probably not too big, I use a 30l karrimor Hot Rock one. Think about it - I put a tub of weights, tackle wallet, couple of floats, couple of plugs, camera, rag, lunchbox, flask and waterproof jacket in mine and it's full! You don't have to fill it up, and it will sit better on your back than a small bag with bits hanging off. No metal on it to corrode, apart from maybe the lid pocket zip.

As to weights poking holes - I keep my grippers in a 1l drum-shaped posh ice cream tub. It's see-through and tougher than a normal rectangular ice cream tub, plus the lid doesn't seem to pop off so easily. Alternatively a malteser bucket would be great, I use one on the boat.

Always had you down as a posh Ice Cream man. What's wrong with cornetto's ?

I use a Watershed Ocoee duffle bag for both shore and kayak fishing now. Expensive but the cost of losing the gear in the bag justifies it.

The length way fastener is outstanding and quick to use. No more rummaging blind in a standard dry bag. Very tough construction and the fastener is air tight

well i'v searched every british shop i can think of and 2 large retailers in america Newt gave me the details of .the only bags that may be suitable is the titan MATCHMAN SEA FISHING RUCKSACK or TITAN Super Cool Rucksack but i'm waiting on titan to email me the dimentions.

Newts urls were a delight to the eye and i expect could be a great drain on the pocket ,if your into lures and stuff the colonies are the place to go :o

some items are completely alien to me but no doubt every American angler has it

i cant see us Brits having this for our 16ft lead chuckers for one :Dhttp://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/template...&hasJS=true

and once we found rods short enough to go in them i expect they would disappear overnight probably with the vehical its welded to

My recommendation, like others is to stay well away from Mustad!! Their bags are rubbish, mine lasted 2 trips from brand new before all zips fell off as well as the top handle.

best to try a hardware store for a bag designed for carrying tools. Normally cheaper and much stronger.
