If it was a protected species, I think in Oz all reptiles are protected. You would probably get life if you topped a saltie.

Wouldn't it rot your sox??? Been across there 12 times and the only creature I ever saw along the entire road was thousands of rabbits. I tell a fib, I saw a wedge tail eagle on one trip.

Longest straight on a hwy and railway in the world, though not level.
