It didn't feel like I was bullying those barblel with it, it felt lke they where doing the bullying. I reckon if the rod was flesh and blood it would have been badly bruised :).

Nice one Ian.

Looks like there's a bit of extra water on to freshen it up a bit today. It was starting to look a bit sad.

Thank's Brian :).

Just looked at the river levels and the rain has knocked the river up to 0.58 from 0.00 or below the other day at the spot where I check it. I noticed a hell of a lot of that silt weed in the slow shallow margins the other day and it was quite loose. I reckon there'll be a lot floating down making it difficult to fish for a couple of days.

Hopefully the fry that where dwelling in the siltweed won't go with it.

Been out again today, had a slow start but the session developed into a decent one, I forget how many chub today but it was more than yesterday ( quite a lot of small and tiddly ones also) the largest went 6lb 2 ounce. I only managed two barbel but plenty of small roach with some decent dace mixed in, a pleasant trotting session.

I had a couple of hours on the river after tea today trotting for barbel and chub, I managed six barbel, wound a trout in by it's anal fin but blanked on the chub. It was ok until the clouds opend up and due to the fact that I was only wearing a tea shirt I got a propper soaking.

Yesterday Latimera and myself had a ride across country to a small river for a days trotting. We assembled our rods above a nice looking glide and he dropped into it, on his first trott through I watched him catch a nice chub of around 3lb and then I left him to it and set off mooching for another decent looking glide to fish myself. The day proved to be a productive one with both of use catching good numbers of grayling trout, chubletts and roach. We only caught one trout but we where really pesterd with these little blighters ...

I had a few hours trotting on the river later today, the water felt cold and the air temp's dropped off quite early in the evening. I was only wearing a t-shirt and I was lokking forward to putting on the car heater ! It wasn't a prolific session, I caught a few nice dace, a chub/roach hybrid that looked like a large roach as I wound it in and two barbel. I was surprised I didn't catch any chub. A chap was legering for barbel at the end of my trott and he didn't catch anything which did surprise me as I would have thought the barbel would have been more willing to take a static bait with the drop off in temp's.
