Whats this fish?

Hi all i caught a 10lb carp not too long ago and didnt no wether it was a koi or a ghost carp could you help me?p.s sorry for dodgey headwear

I might be wrong but as far as I'm aware the only difference between Ghost Carp and Koi is the terminology used.. A Ghost Carp is a Koi Carp biologically.. They're both ornemental types of Cyprinus Carpio.

Yes it is.

I think normal people would say a Ghost Carp is a type of Koi Carp.. Well thats become the term which is used to describe ornamental strains of the Common Carp.

It gets very complicated when it comes to Koi Carp breeding and it's not something I know anything about. I don't think a Ghost Carp is looked upon very higly amongst Koi breeders and is not classed as a true --- (some Japanese name I can't remember) as Ghost Carp I think have been bred with Wild Carp, which might explain why they go like hell when hooked..

Like I said I'm no great expert on this subject so maybe be proved wrong..

when i next catch a ghost/koi im just gonna call it a matallic carp because of the mattalic silver/grey on there head
