I picked up a 12 led one from hong kong on fleabay and it's mint! would happily recommend them and they are a fraction of the price that they cost in the UK

I would agree rthat the cheap LED ones are nearly as good as the expensive ones!

Ive got one of the first LED ones that Petzel first brought out (got it when I lived in France from Decathalon) it cost around £15 if I remember right.Couldnt find it on one trip (the last Wingham fish in as it happens) so brought a £3 one from Ashford tackle.Other than the anoying on switch (you have to press it several times to get to the constant beam setting as it has several flashing and intermediate options) its just as good if not better!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

i use a couple of these (from netto £2.99).

one on a normal cap & one on a hunters cap (built in earflaps) work great 2,4 or 2xred leds and runs on watch / pc batteries (flat shilling type) .i also have a head lamp from decatholon 1.99 6 leds and a old head lamp with a led fitted instead of the fillament lamp .

theres plenty on e-bay but mostley have 3 or 5 white light leds ,I got mine from netto when they had them in (i got 5 set's ,i've gave three too mates) these are the best ones having white & red leds ,i've found these on e-bay Here

i use the petzel micro, can not fault them. i think they were originally designed for caving so they have to be good! i have just replaced my first one as the lense had become so scratched up but after 10 years of frequent use and abuse that can not be bad. never let me down. i think that i had to change the bulb about twice! also they are not over the top power wise, perfect for nighting it. you can pick them up for between 10-15 quid, absolute bargain!

I bought one of those £3 LED head torchs from a petrol station when I filled up en route to the river knowing my torch was in my other bag and thought it would be good for one session and then throw away

Got to say I got that wrong as its a great buy and I wish I'd bought a dozen, if you see one for sale next time you fill up its worth buying and throws plenty of light out to show where you're walking on those dark night river sessions

I have one of those thingies that clip onto the peak of a baseball cap, brillient bit of kit.

By the way, I went for the green lights. Have had a red one but shining that at the red inside a pike's mouth simply meant that detail was greatly reduced. Shine a green light onto red and it almost goes black! Really handy, and not dazzling like white.
