That's what Scotland looks like every time I go there! ;)

I've had my fair share of "why am I here" moments in Scotland but it can also be a beautiful place. My job takes me there quite often, mostly to Perth and Inverness (my fave Scottish place) but occasionally to more remote areas. I went to Wick recently for the opening ceremony of Burn of Whilk wind farm, a project we sold but built for the new owner, it was held at Ackergill Tower a mile or so outside of Wick;

We had a couple of gorgeous days when we were up near Fort William in May - the rest of the week it chucked it down! Seems a bit drier where the in-laws live, over towards Edinburgh.

That's nice flat water! When I lived in Anglesey the sea behind our house was savage when the wind blew in which it did for most of the winter months. One hundred mile an hour winds weren't uncommon and the noise it made was quite frightening! The huse would vibrate with it and the trees and hedges all grew in a fixed wind swept position so even when there was no wind at all if you took a photo of them you wouldn't know if it was blowing a gale or not. I used to hate those bloody winds until the spring came round and they helped to bring the bass in on an incoming tide :).

Didn't know you'd lived there, Tigger - great place for the sea fishing!

Yeah, I lived there for a few years Steve...completely out in the sticks. It's great in the summer but hell in the winter !

Your right, there is some great sea fishing and I used to enjoy beach casting for bass. I'd fillet them on the beach, 5 min's walk across the fields back to our house and fry the bass in butter :). I lived on rabbit, pheasant and bass LOL.

Interesting - did you ever get to fish Aberffraw beach ? A short hop from the road down across the dunes to the small beach, which had a stream running in at one end. Haven't fished it for about 50 years !
