Back in the Day!

The days when anglers wore their white shirts, ties, suits and shoes to go fishing; and they also wore their Sunday bests on their annual beano's to the beach LOL..

I enjoyed watching the film, it shows how much we have changed over the years since our fathers and grandfathers used to fish..

My father used to take me with him to the Thames in the late 50's when I was around 8 to 10 years old however I can't remember my dad wearing those sort of clothes fishing even in the 50's let alone the 60's, (although my Grand Father may have done); maybe it was more of a northern trait LOL.

Well, that has never applied to me, and I was into match fishing in the late 1940s and early 1950s. My usual garb was a drab T-shirt, jeans and plimsolls, since then my fishing apparel has been that of someone who has come to mend something.

In fact, there are a few photos of me in blue overalls and grease-top hat on the footplate of steam locos, and my friends tell me that is the best-dressed they have ever seen me.
