Lead Free Feeder (& Free)

Eh up guys - Here's an open ended feeder using a Steradent tube (you'll get 3 from each tube) & most of us will have them being Dentally Challenged that is.

Lead free due to the Jubilee Clip near one end (slotted screw head sawn off once tightened so it can't catch the line) Small hole drilled for Link swivel one end.

Plug with groundbait one end, fill with Maggots & plug other end with groundbait.

The feeder tilts slightly one way to let the maggots spill out.  Use up your Steradent tubes, old Jubilee clips & bits of paint for Camo'. (Maybe have the swivel hole on other end??)

Good idea Martin

My dad and I used to make my mums hair curlers into swim feeders back in the 1960’s when we fished the Thames; (using squeezed bread and maggots inside) with lead wire to give them a little casting weight and to stop them from moving too much in the current.

but I think I might prefer your one.

Thanks Keith,

yes I think it would hold bottom very well on the river, & would pull out of a snag quite easily with the fulcrum like, rounded weight & small surface area.

I've been using it on Commercials, & it skims straight up to the surface on the retrieve.

Assuming/Hoping, the feeder hits the deck Screw side (heaviest side) down most of the time!!

Never used a feeder ,I bought a bag of 20 mixed size ones (those old style ones with the lead strip along one side) from Gerry's of Wimbledon ? (Think that was the mail order of the time) but to date never used one ,never even used a PVA bag I am far to tight to throw bait away . Unfortunately all attempts to cure hook wounds from maggots have failed so I cannot even use the last maggot on the hook and bandage it up for next time 😭

An unfortunate bit of "just in case "thinking that went wrong

And if you lose it, some Muppet with a magnet on a rope will pull it out of the river.
