What is a 'true' angler?

True angler? a difficult question, but does it matter? When I go fishing I am sure I can smell the river from a mile away! I only get to fish on Sundays. Always aim to be at bankside for 0700hrs. 0200hrs have packed bags and on my way!!! just can't sleep when i know i'm going fishing.

I hate cane rods. Horrible heavy contraptions that even spark and spit like hell when thrown on the back of the fire.

Don't take a telly with me fishing but have been known to drop in the odd bivy for Coronation.

I don't see the need for any angler to feel they have to justify how they fish or how they don't fish, the fact that they fish is enough for me.

Dear Chaps,

 

A Wally Cast is quite uneccessary provided one shells out for a Shimano Baitrunner. Casts out oodles of line quite effortlessly.

 

And no casting is required at all if fishing from a boat. One merely plops ones bait, float etc over the side. Effortless fishing whilst one watches ones float from the porthole. Come to think of it, if one is fishing from a boat and it rains, does one put up ones umbrella??

 

Boat bivvy?
