My new Whitby charter angling boat

Our new crewman Rob had a blast in the new Swiftcat with the skipper Mike Freeman yesterday. Mike is the one looking unconcerned in the stripey jumper.

Impressive boat Alan. I will certainly have a trip with your boat this year (if I and other anglers can gather enough individuals). I normally fish from Whitby boats at least half a dozen times a year with various boats but lately due to poor weather and my increasing seasickness problem I fish less and less.

By the way are you the same Alan, aka wildercard, that gave me some advice in WSF Forum on Whitby boat fishing when I was a newbie in 2005? If so, I look forward to meeting you on your boat one day.

All the best for your new boat.

Regards

Hello poogong,

Our new website will have a forum on it where anglers can contact other anglers to form groups and fish specific dates and split the cost. I don't know of any other charter boat website that has done this - but I may be corrected. ;)

The swiftcat is a unique ride, and very comfortable. It will be interesting to hear your views on your seasickness problem if you take a trip with us. We can hydraulically trim the stern drives to any angle to suit any conditions. The boat is so easy to drive that we will encourage responsible anglers to take the helm even at +20 knots. :o

You are correct, it was me who gave you advice in 2005. I can be found on various forums in different guises. B)

Best regards,

Alan

Experience is that marvelous thing that enables you to recognise a mistake when you make it again.

Thanks Alan. I'll definitely go out with your boat this spring or summer. Please let us know when your website up and running.

Hi to you all on the topic and Ivan,Wildcard,Mike,JM,Barry..I find it hard to see why the Whitby Asso can't get you in (re a member of the boat asso) so you can fish with customers in the festival Wildcard..I thought more the better as odds go down.I would have thought that more boats/people in the Asso counts for more votes and say when it always comes back to the poor old RSA angler..perhaps I am wrong but I have been to Whitby enough times fishing and as a tripper and caught some of the biggest..more members the better....so all I can say now is good luck..don't know what the answer is..Graham

Also I would say now thinking about it,Wildcard,MIKE and Etc if you do join the Whitby Fishing Mafia get some good weighing scales as I was on a boat and caught a large Cod and they ran it down as to the scales we used and people weighing..we was wrong...thats crap. I had 12 good anglers with me and 3 good crew..so ask before you join if they give you a set of weighing scales.I caught a nice fish and the rest talked it down...very small minded was a few.

I thought Mike Freeman made things clear in his earlier post. The WCSA is all about the promotion of sea fishing in Whitby and we applaud them. If we are excluded without explanation then we accept that.

Perhaps you could elaborate for us, at the time is it not the case that if the skipper say's it was that much, it was that much.

All the time i have been using charter boats the skippers word is good enough and is normally accepted. I had an instance late last year of a good fish so it was weighed by the skipper who conceded to us he did not know the accuracy of his scales, however he came to a conculsion as to the weight, when checked by another source, it was spot on. Same as pulling up conger eels, 't' bar them at the gunnel ask the skipper for the weight and accept what he has stated instead of fighting with the eel on board.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Yes you are right in what you say as to the skipper being god on the scales and size of fish etc,but when I got mine we had all the crap from certain people as to whether it was weighed right, the scales was wrong,so thats why I said you need scales etc that the asso use's,I hope to fish the festivals this year at Whitby on Achattes as I have been told Brennan will be back and he's got that boat now,,also do any of you want some manns shads in packets for a £1,plus P&P,can't wait till I catch another big one and have the same crap.

Don't think you will be fishing the festival on the Achattes this year. Wacott

Despite the boat being in the Festival last year, I believe John Brennan has also been Blackballed by the WCSA

Somebody please correct me if I am wrong
