  1. Thanks Budgie, I couldn't even remember what they were called. On a side note, its interesting that some spell it "ledgering" and others spell it "legering". I have always used the "legering" spelling, but having spent a lot of time searching the "legering" accessories sites, I have notice the preponderance of the two spellings.
  2. Many moons ago I purchased two legering accessories for the purpose of lifting the line off the bottom. They are a plastic stick about 8" long with a ring (which your line runs through) and a foam ball at one end and a smaller ring at the other end, for fixing a weight to. I can't remember what they are called, or who made them, but my local tackle shops don't have them , nor have they heard of them. I know I can make my own, but I would prefer to buy them. Does anyone else know what I am talking about and have any clues that may help me ? Thanks in advance for any assistance, as usual.
  3. Who cares if pubs close because their customers vote with their feet ? Thats a risk all businesses take. As others have said, the good businesses will always survive, the others go under. Pubs/Breweries have priced themselves out of business, it has little to do with the smoking ban. I don't notice a lot of Nightclubs closing. This statement stretches the imagination a bit, "created a lot of full and part time employment". Apart from the manager/owner, its usually just a few part time staff, most of who have daytime jobs anyway.
  4. In the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I have to wait quite a time to access AN. I have even come in via Google and its still a long wait. Sometimes I have to log in again, despite keeping AN cookies on my PC. I should mention that I have no problems accessing other websites. Perhaps its "atmospheric conditions".
  5. Thanks jeepster, I have found a hub with the power adaptor you mention, which eliminates any potential problems.
  6. Be assured that all revenue raising options such as, congestion charging, tolls on motorways, toll lanes, etc., will be introduced first. This will have nothing to do with easing congestion, but just give this Government some more money to waste.
  7. All the USB points at the back of my desktop PC are occupied. I have 3 spare USB points behind a flap at the front of the tower, but to use them means I will have wires trailing out of the front of the machine and it will look a right mess. My question is. Can I run a web cam, a skype phone and headphones from a USB hub plugged into a USB port (hidden) at the back of my PC ? Research I have done on Google suggests that hubs are not too effective if the appliances plugged into them are big power users. I have no idea of the power usage of the appliances I want to plug into it. Any advice is appreciated, as usual.
  8. Incredible, a very talented man, makes old Rolf Harris look a bit ordinary.
  9. I watched the Match and got the impression that he gave up after the first couple of games. His footwork and court position was all awry and his body language was that of a beaten man. If think Henman would have at least tried.............................., but then he is English.
  10. Not much "guts and determination" shown in his match with Nadal, the young Spaniard just rolled right over the Great British Hope.
  11. I don't want to get into a **** contest , but I never read anything about being "above tide level" and quite often dead fish that are too large for the gulls get washed ashore.
  12. I take your point and agree that most Skippers lay the rules down hard. However, there are a lot of small dogfish being caught on the boats at the moment and sometimes deep hooked small dogfish don't survive amateur attempts at unhooking them. Sometimes the Skipper is busy and doesn't see everything and then you have the, not so "self respecting" ones. Perhaps I should also have extended my comment to include all the small privately owned boats that fish in this area.
  13. Almost certain to be a longliner, or discards from a charter boat (if there were definite hook marks on them).
  14. With a less than 28% average "approval" rating, it appears that the USA is fed up with Bush and his clones. The main Bookmakers make the Democrats and Obama favourites to win, they don't often make mistakes.
  15. Trust the Commercials to know where the fish are, so that picture supports my comment.
  16. All of the venues from Gravesend on the Thames, right round to Dungeness fish well at certain times of the year and for a wide range of species. If you are new to the game keep away from venues like the Admiralty and Breakwater at Dover, as the tides there mean you need some expertise. Deal and Folkestone piers are fair locations most of the year as is Samphire Hoe (where its best to float fish straight down the wall, or use a rotten bottom, as its snaggy in places. All of the beaches are worth a try and you don't have to cast that far at most of them. Its better if you can plug in to uptodate info on whats happening and where. Try http://www.worldseafishing.com/forums/index.php? and check out the South East section. Note:edited for spelling mistakes.
  17. ..........and unfortunately, he is just a clone of George Bush and the World has had enough of that clown and his clones.
  18. She is just a slapper , like many other model/celebrity/clothes horses, who do not possess a shred of discernible talent. If she had really been racially abused, I am sure it would have been the main plank of her defense to the charges. I have now decided she is a lying slapper.

    Nab-Tower

I have fished by that a few times, notably back in the "cod days" of the early 70's, but I never knew that story. Quite fascinating, thanks for that.
  20. I partly agree with snotty. When you look at how much our International liabilities cost us (as we are a major World power ) from overseas aid, through military expenditure and being a money tit for every foreign immigrant to suck on, it does make you think that we should pull in our horns somewhat. When things are right in the UK, then perhaps we can afford to throw our cash around the World, but until then we should consider the adage "Charity begins at home". So as not to be accused of complete derailment, I would add that if we reduced our International money wasting profile, we would not need to raise taxes to their current obscene level. We could also reduce the risks of terrorism at a stroke.
  21. The first one is excellent, but the second one looks contrived and very like a set up.
  22. You will find that most horse riders do have full insurance cover for themselves and public liability.
  23. Another example of the inequitable tolerance shown to this underclass. I must be the only one who sees cyclists regularly on their mobiles and (as I live in a very rural location) tossing their plastic water bottles on the verges.
  24. The traffic laws as they apply to cyclists need clarification and strictly enforcing. Cycling in pedestrian precincts, through red traffic lights, on pavements, wrong way up a one way street, the list of dangerous manoeuvres is endless. They also should be required to have road tax and be insured. The really amusing part is how these parasites blatantly break the law and yet project themselves as conservation conscious saviours of the Universe.
  25. Fortunately we have access to very fresh local caught fish and eat it two or three times a week. When this includes cod , we tuck in.
