  1. I think these misguided youngsters should be made to join the Army and be turned into new citizens, just like Emma two..............................well not exactly like Emma two.
  2. I don't think the issue on this occasion is "freedom of speech", I think its "the right to protest". They were protesting, which as British citizens (apparently they were all born here), they have the right to do. As has been said earlier, we live in a democracy which means people are permitted to have views different from each other and the Government. I have done some protesting, the Countryside March was the last one, I think its a right we should defend.
  3. There are a lot of wild boar in Kent, in several locations. You rarely see them in the daytime, but you can see where they have been and they show at night. Incidentally, I was talking to a local lady on Saturday who has lived in her house for 15 years and she said she had never seen a badger. There is a massive well used 12 entry badger sett within 75 yards of her garden.

  5. I went for a stroll with my wife late this morning and saw you out there, it looked very nice, did you catch anything ?
  6. The thing that has rather startled me about the pending demise of Jane Goody, is that she upset millions of Indians with her racist remarks on Big Brother and then, completely out of the blue, becomes terminally ill. Makes you think about the power of Hindu prayers.
  7. What a scary incident, but a lucky escape. Hopefully the surgery will mean a full recovery to the rudest of good health.
  8. Thats an old video, this model has been around for a couple of years and there were many previous models going back to the '60's (used in Vietnam). Apparently they have very limited use in general combat because of range limitations, but are good for close quarters jungle fighting and clearing buildings.
  9. I remember him from Thats Life, I never found him funny (just embarrassing) and those weird faces he pulled while "singing", were about as excruciating as his accent. Sorry Den, just proving it takes all sorts.
  10. Well thats a really reassuring statement. It seems that the "we know whats best for you" attitude is still alive and well. If that sums up the Angling Trust's policy, they can stick their membership. I may not be able to stop them screwing up my fishing, but I do not intend to pay for the privilege. The sad thing is that the ACA is in with this lot, I always felt my subscription to them (which is no more) was money well invested.
  11. That sums up most sea anglers viewpoint exactly. They didn't lobby for Government interference, the Angling Trust, or anything like it.
  12. "Elanor Rigby" gets my vote, followed by "She's leaving home". Great link Chris, thanks a lot.
  13. I do apologise for the omission, but I was just responding to your original post (where you neglected to use the "Royal" prefix).
  14. Oh No !! two Marines were refused entry to a Weatherspoons Pub, whatever next.
  15. Merry Christmas to us all , God bless us everyone.
  16. Have a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year
  17. http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/News/angling-trust-051208.html Its Deja Vu, all over again.
  18. "42" ? Thats a few less than I thought it would be, my guess was about 3500.
  19. I assume you don't know the answer. The reason I asked is because I wondered what the answer would be, isn't that why most people ask questions ?
  20. Does anyone have an accurate number of the members that these merging organisations have ?
  21. A very persuasive argument that I keep hearing is that we should have no representation at any discussions with Defra and let the cards fall where they will. The basis for this argument is that the Minister is unlikely to impose anything that will be really unpalatable to the sea anglers/voters. It also takes away the chance of well meaning representatives being colluded into agreeing to some "restrictions" on our behalf, a bit like the "turkeys voting for Christmas" syndome.
  22. It appears that we each talk a completely different language and appear to live in different worlds. I suspect it would be profitable for both of us to leave it at that.
  23. I think I see where we have a misunderstanding. If I had to develop an opinion as the precursor to making a decision, I would conduct analysis (I prefer to think of it as "research). I would be able to justify my decision and explain the way I had reached it, by exposing my analysis (or research). With regard to my opinion on homosexuality, that did not involve a decision and therefore I did not need to conduct research (or analysis). I also disagree with your statement "Bye the way you have been argueing a point with me for a fair bit of this thread a bit of analysis would have helped you realise that". I have not been arguing a point , just trying to get you to understand my original comment. If I have failed, then I will claim responsibility for 50% of that fact.
  24. I don't remember having any "argued points", I just stated my opinion and I don't consider a lack of analysis can affect an opinion. My opinion is just that, my personal viewpoint owned by me, whether you consider it has any value or not, does not concern me at all, I am not seeking to impose my opinion on you, nor am I seeking your approval, I just stated my opinion.
  25. You should understand that a lot of people do not sit down and deeply analyse the reasons behind their likes and dislikes (no matter how intense). Homosexuality does not feature regularly in my thinking time (about the same amount of time as squash and lawn bowls), I am not obsessed with it, as some appear to be. My "dictionary style" description of "extinct" came from my own head, not a dictionary. I just chose to identify my understanding of the meaning of the word I was using. Never credit people with intelligence, the disappointments will come all too regularly, especially on Internet forums.
