eeerrr the daddy....etc the female has an ovipositor that she uses to pop the eggs in the inlet valve? of the mussel, the male just errr "finishes" near it, the water and sperm being sucked in do the rest i did buy a pair for the intresting "cycle" but i think the mussel ate them well eventually after they became soup the most interesting coldwater fish we had was some sticklebacks , they are great fun the male even had a name , they go very red in the presense of a female as it shows them its nice house , best to keep the tank in sunlight so the algy grows for nest building [ 11. 6. they wont be far from where they are in the summer (in a pond)but with the colder temps in the winter wont be feeding much , use a small hook and float set well down and single red maggot and you may get some perch ,forget groundbait just a few freebie maggots now and again ,on a sunny day things will pick up but you will still be freezing between bites , i think the shy bites you may get are a automatic reaction to the bait (first come first served) rather on them being hungry , if your pond has cormarant trouble they may be shoaling up for protection , try all the swims with basic tackle and you may find them

you may be right i cannot find anything relating to being a prot spec so may be thinking of something else and your right about bitterlings ,its a case of "look at the ovipositor on that )
  8. the magic wand was a pain it get grabbing strange bits  but i found the colour replacer thingy worked if it wasnt to agressive ( you can pick the actual colour on the pic to remove) then pick one to replace it with i then adjusted the contrast etc to get the darkest print and the brightest back ground unfortunatly i will have forgotten by tomorrow how i did it [ 11. 11. hi steve i leave it up to you i`m in FAS because since moving to aldershot and farnham i`v always fished FAS waters at just over a pound a week (excluding £20 joining fee) you cant grumble on the price (well i might ) cats at 40lb+ carp to 39lb if your after the big ones the only drawback is even the biggest waters are small and are EXTREMLY popular with bivvie space at a premium pop into the creel and get the adverts but in the end its your choice
  12. does any enterprising graphics persons know if there is a way of "grabbing" a colour in an image and either removing it or substituting another? ,i am trying to reproduce a intrepid catalogue thats printed on yellow paper ,ofcourse i could just print it but would waste tons of yellow as the pages have other colours besides yellow i would like them to remain ,if i could "remove" the colour and substitute it with white i could easily print the remainder on yellow paper ( i could do it the hard way removing the graphics ,retyping the text etc ) as there is 20 odd pages it would be a long job doing it by "hand"
  13. aha i see it all now ,if the posts NEED a point ,then that explains the lack of vampires enquiring of virgins whereabouts
  14. some laws have got to be made for the welfare of extremly expensive fish (in replacement terms) more contaversial is this years introduction of a mandatory unhooking mat NO MATTER what fish your fishing for , as a bailiff it causes the most tension from our "customers" i give a verbal warning first just incase they havent read the book but if they do it again its for real and they stand (depending how much they grovel) between a written warning and confiscation of their permit  and yes ours leave litter and cannot lock gates either although they phisically have to lock the lock to remove their key  perhaps there should be a mandatory "litter in the bin " and "lock the gate" teach in but in this case it will be forgotten in minutes [ 10. 15. go with someone who is experienced in both capture and release ,although pike have got a "macho" look about them they are one of our more sensitive fish and should be treated with extreme care , deep hooking is a problem with the beginner in striking too late and then the real problem is with unhooking our club has a pike teach in unless you can demonstrate you can handle the pike properly and demonstrate ( in theory) you can unhook it properly both through the mouth and gills then you pass and a stamp is put in your permit book ,without that you cannot fish for pike.Make sure you have the neccesary tackle and more importantly an unhooking mat and equiptment too unhook it. find a partner to show you the ropes its best [ 10. 16. hi sorry to hear of your plight , was it found by any symptoms (on your part)or a pure fluke revealed in a ordinary chest xray for something else ?
  17. quote: Has anyone heard how the Kent Beaver Project has progressed? i saw a coypu on the rother (at the end of the military canal) its almost a beaver ,there are also "wild" wallabies near the pennine way (although we never saw one when we walked it)
  18. if you have even the slightest hint of his whereabouts, full name etc try a meta search engine using those criteria ,i have tracked people using the faintest of clues in my intrepid research (does involve sending lots of e`mails and luck) has anyone ever used those "find e`mail address" things  i cant even find some when i put in the full address
  19. everything is fine its just improving on the past ....well maybe not bait boats as i cannot afford one they should be outlawed untill i can ,but as this is a sea forum (whoops) i`l settle for faster boats than the one i`m on [ 10. March 2003, 07:31 PM: Message edited by: chesters1 ]
  20. i`d like to see it moderated in "real time" you tend to type with thought (usually ) i can hear the swear words now ,the air would be blue
  21. its because they know its the nearly close season by the start of the new one away they`l go
  22. they were already known about (and appeared in the paper and a telly prog weeks ago) they are "spotter planes" same as ours ,so are not weapons as such if spotter planes are indeed weapons then so are binoculars ,satellites, telescopes etc anything COULD become a way of tramsporting wmd lorries ,cars ,tanks or muslems with tanks of gas strapped to them , if he had to count everything he`d be typing for some time ,he has only to list wmd and any ways of producing them not weapons full stop i think (by what my simple mind thinks) he has only to list CURRENT weapons and production methods  so it could be said all he has pre 98 are not current but in the past  [ 10. 23. quote: what do you call a french man advancing on Iraq??? USING HIS MAP UPSIDE DOWN
  24. the planes (and they have been discussed) are NOT a weapon of mass distruction (as are not the missiles) if now planes ARE wmd then heathrow sends a couple of hundred out a day as does every other country in the world (and remember ARE the only wsd used on the twin towers ) if they are found to be wmd (rather than the method of transporting them) then germany ,israel, britain ,america etc also has drone planes of wmd ,infact the inspectors are using them themselves [ 10.
