  1. i think its a case of getting what you pay for ,if its just occasional summer overnight use then the cheaper end but if its going to be for long stay or bad weather use the higher end ,there are some reasonable mid range ones for less than 100 ,i am sure the cypry (or equivelant)has a few followers on here also check the colour ,our club now only allows greens (it was beginning to turn into a camp site) with the onslaught of tents etc [ 19. 3. last fished the outfalls at dungerness about 30 years ago it was a very eerie place ,i hear they have roads and resturants nowadays ,wheres all the pioneer spirit gone
  4. look at second hand ,most tackle shops will have some ,i bought my northwesterns for £50 a pair (a few years ago) ,i wouldnt swop them for anything ,the reels were in a sale and much reduced ,its a case of saving your money and getting the bargain but take a friend (there are pigs in pokes still)
  5. the bigger and thicker the better (just incase that 30 appears) i got a nice one for £20, doubles as a huge bag as well ,and big enough to lie on while waiting for a run untill you buy a bedchair
  6. it used to be sold as a fertiliser ,probably best to forget using it though for a couple of reasons a) once wet (even hand moisture) and it stinks like hell and stains your hands its not at the moment safe to use the stuff ,you just dont know where it came from (besides animals ) even drying it cannot prevent naughty bacteria or viri infesting it ,bse is almost indistructable it can survive steaming and roasting even bone meal is suspect
  7. dont put all your eggs (or maggots) in 1 box, keep the bulk in the shade (or at home in the fridge)and just use a small box of them for use ,if you knock it over it will just be a small amount ,robins will pick up the escapee`s for you
  8. i used to have a prepay nokia 3310 with cellnet ,bloody thing wouldnt work any where (bad signal) i tried a different sim card so i could get orange ,found out it was "locked" it would have cost £40 to have it unlocked ,the next time the signal broke up i had great pleasure in taking a 2lb hammer to it ,i now have a cheap motorola it seems to work every where. why are these companies allowed to lock the phones to one company surely it is anti competetive
  9. or even folkestone harbour wall although it gets a bit busy
  10. phoned up after another one friday ,lady explained that the boss was going away on saturday and she would try to get me an interveiw that afternoon ,she said she would call back within an hour ....1hr passes then 2, i phone the number, its an answer machine and it remained on answer machine all afternoon  i shall try again tomorrow
  11. that handsome chap with the fish when loaded has only the top of his head showing (the scrolling bit works ok though) the pic only covers about an 8th of the green panel . every thing works ok in int exp ,the boxes stay put ,the pic is full sized ,and the plain boxes on the right now have dropdowns. the loading speed is very good and i`m not on broadband [ 18. 12. strange thing ,i use netscape and being impatient tend to click on clicky things before the page finishes loading ,when i try to click on the buttons on the left hand side as my curser hits them they disapear ,they come back again if i scroll the page but the same happens ,is it a clever ploy to make us look at a completly loaded page ? i shall go back and try again still does it when the page has loaded. the boxes on the right are ok (a bit plain )but the writing enlarges on touching [ 18. 13. i worked in southern france for a time ,there was some monster wasps (or looked very much like them) i got bitten a few times and blamed these small bird sized things (only a slight exageration ) infact it was very small black flies (smaller than midges) they had a great bite on them ,they were so small they went unnoticed .
  14. i dont know how old you are but congrats to your parents for a job well done theres hundreds of years of experience here (poledark and newt most of it ) so dont be afraid of asking ,hopefully someone will answer it
  15. its a shame relum is a very old company name unfortunatly in this day and age profit not customer relations rule the roost . efgeeco used to be a great company ,i sent for a spacer for their seat bag (many years after they stopped production of it ) they sent a complete set complete with screws by return of post and free also everest (the double glazing firm) we asked if the sold the spacers for their old secondry glazing windows ,by return of post 10 of each size came in the post and free there out there and hopefully will carry on trading for years putting their customers first ,unlike abu
  16. as things are going over here you`l see less and less slang terms for foreigners ,the term racist raises its ugly head ,probably brought on by chinks, jerries ,frogs ,dago`s or even yanks i take my hints from our own queens husband mr pc himself [ 18. 18. uselly because they can ,sometimes in shallow water and hot conditions the ground bait starts to decompose rather quickly (before its eaten) especially when theres a lot of anglers and few swans or geese ,other reasons could be at some time the owners noticed groundbait bags or the bait itself on the banks or in the reeds ,this attracts vermin and also doesnt look good ,so maybe after a few warnings he`s put his foot down and banned them . our club has banned tins ,bottles etc etc for this reason. there could be a host of reasons probably the best way to find out would be to ask
  19. aaaaarrrrrggggghh real intrepids though as seen on our collectors corner not those shakey things http://anglersnet.co.uk/collectors/ [ 18. August 2002, 05:12 PM: Message edited by: chesters1 ]
  20. wellington boots ,never had anything on them despite being the favourite bait of cartoonists and the such p.s supermarket trolleys are worse
  21. "US football terms. You have 4 tries to move the ball 10 yards. If not, ball goes over to the other team. So, on 4th down (try) you are pretty much out of chances. And the field is 100 yards long with the first 50 yards known as "mine" and the last 50 yards as "theirs". So, 97 yards left for a score but the other team would only have 3 yards needed if you turned the ball over to them where it is now." gord blimey even newt has gone funny  [ 18. 22. i`l give you six shells for your woman (still used today but with inflation probably 60 strings of shells) all money is "shells" made of metal , and taxes are the equivilent of ug the caveman catching an antelope and two other larger cavemen demanding their cut OR ELSE [ 18. 23. usually much more expensive "braid" type stuff is used for hair rigs as its more supple ,harder to see and abrasion resistant (sort of) than line ,look at the rigs section on the main page http://anglersnet.co.uk/carp/index.htm there is a host of materials for hair rigs at your tackle dealer (even ready tied usually) [ 18.
