  6. Long time since I last went but we have flown there with both Emirates and Singapore Airlines both were excellent try to get flights with minimum stopovers if you are tight for time both the above fly Dubia and Singapore stops for 3 hrs in total then onto destination in Australia We used a firm called Travelbag but my mate has used one called Travel mood with good results Take some swan vesta matches and they will think you re a magician when you light them on a mirror etc ,tell them they drink beer in women's measures and they tip half of that away claiming its cold....always helps with the Anglo /Ausie relations

  10. Went again today for a couple of hours this afternoon with the ultralight gear and had a few Perch and a jack but my mate slaughtered the swim with 18 Pike and 10 decent Perch to lives There I go again taking a knife to a gun fight To add insult to injury I snapped the top of the Rockfish off a couple of inches below the tip ring

  13. Sorry just re read your post heading upstream well a short cruise under Caversham bridge and the parkland on the left can be moored on opposite bank there is a large house with a bell tower the area is called the promenade and has great Roach and Perch fishing but the scullers will wake you up early with there shouting and wash from the safety boat Head through Mapledurham lock and there are moorings on the far bank which give access to Mapledurham house scene of a ww2 film the eagle has landed I believe but think this is RDAA water not sure of guest ticket Next is Pangbourne meadows on the right hand bank as you see the newly refurbished white road bridge in front of you it's a national trust free mooring and free fishing ,I took a 3lb 14 oz fish from here last September These 3 alone are all within 3 hours leisurely cruise from your pick up spot
  14. Dave we spend most weekends of the summer and a few week nights to on our narrow boat on the Thames and have fished most bits over the years so first question is are you heading upstream or downstream? Many of the licks have bootable mooring space on the inside ie weir side of the lock island and you can fish from the boat here but they do charge circa £9 for the mooring per night A fair few other bits are available day ticket and farmers that charge a fiver for mooring overnight in there fields let you fish, reality is you are unlikely to see other anglers let alone a bailiff Let us know when and I am sure I can get Rusty,Steve W,Matthew and a few others for a mini Thames fishin Any other info just shout .....I can put you onto areas that have done recent barbel to nearly 18 a fish I saw in the flesh but sadly not to my rod Steve

  18. John myself and Rusty fished the Thames today possibly the same spot and we both had Roach to 12oz on maggots mine on the tip his float fishing obviously Found most of them on some slack water on the edge of the crease ,river not really up but more coloured than the weekend I had 4Pike nothing big and lots of small Dace
  19. . And you got a Massooms Curry into the bargain well done mate
  20. Saw it in the flesh today as Rusty caught a string of good Roach in a crease swim ,very nice and worked like a dream
  21. Went out today lost a good chub on stick float under a moored boat but found it hard to find fish on the Thames so resorted to the banker slack water swim had 7 Pike to lives and some Perch mainly to Steve Walkers lending me a small jig which I fixed to my quiver rod . First go at fishing them properly and it was great fun thanks for the guidance messer Walker. Out to oz dead baiting for a big girl at the lake think the Thames needs to drop and clear just a tad more for stick float success
  22. Belated but happy birthday Newt
