  1. Leadcore is great, you can use a lower bs hooklink as the leadcores tend to be high bs. then no fish will trail the leadcore in the event of a break as the hook link will be the lowest bs of your tackle - thats what I do anyways.

    Fish Deaths.

Hi Mr wiggly I've been keeping koi, mirror, leather and common carp for over 20 years now. The most likely cause when fish die with no signs of any disease or damage etc at this time of year is bacterial, It leaves no sign and can kill only a few fish or the whole pond. When temperatures go down as low as they are now fish emmune system shuts down hence they have no defence against bacteria, bacteria can get into your pond easily from birds and or bird droppings amongst other uncontrolable sources. Its easy to get hold of treatment for bacterial infections to put directly into you pond water pond fish shops / dealers etc. and will not harm your fish plants etc. May be worth trying that as it won't cost you much and from my experience its nearly always the culprit when no signs are present on the fish. Hope this helps.

  16. Hi Klaus keep it up m8 its a bug you will enjoy and as you get more experienced you will catch more and more.
  17. I have transported a lot of large koi over the years long distances too. The best way is as mr wiggly says - get transport bags from local koi pond fish dealer use two bags one inside the other fill with oxygen and rubber band over twisted neck, Then place the bag in a cardboard box (suitable size) this helps stabilise the bag whilst allowing for a little flixability around the sides. If you talk to your local pond fish dealer i'm sure he will help you with the bags and oxygen for a small price and your fish will be fine. 50 miles is not a long way and remember when fish are transported from Japan (koi) they are often in the crates for 36 hours + with no more care than they would get using the above method. Hope this puts your mind at rest
  18. I agree with David we should leave mother nature to herself, The pike are there for a reason if they were not there the balance in the ecosystem would be out and cause lots of other problems. Mother nature seems to have done great over millions of years without our inteference I don't think any of us should cull pike or any other species at all.
  19. Hi all i've recently started pole fishing and just bought a second pole which is a put over pole (even the top sections), The problem i'm having is figuring out how to elasticate a put over pole as my other pole is telescopic for the top three sections and the new one is put over for the top sections ! Can anyone please tell me how I should do it ? i cannot figure out how to do it so I can put the top sections inside the others ie- to pack the pole away to take fishing The only way i can figure out how to do it is to put elastic in at the river bank and take it out to pack pole away to go home when finished - can't be right me thinks ?? hope i'm not being too stupid Any comments gratefully received.
