A whip is simply a small pole so; Yeah i would use a fine(ish) pole float!! something around the size of 4x8 -to- 4x14 or 0.15 -to- 0.5!! Depends on what you are fishing for in what conditions!! It needs to be connected top and bottom!!

I am going to go out on sunday!! Just to one of my clubs stillwaters!! Do you think it will be too early for tench?? Think i may try it anyway - go for a maggot/worm/pellet/corn and g-bait approach on the pole tight to emerging lillies and bays on the pool!! This may produce some perch aswell if i keep the worm going in!! and it is too early for corn in my eyes?!?! hmmmm maybe i'll have a go on the match pool and start warming up for the spring league If all else fails i will go for whatever comes along on a smallish feeder!!

My private club do not require seeing my license at any time!?!? The waters are all private and padlocked on long rural tracks!! I have never seen or heard of any EA baliff coming around checking the still waters but when fishing the river some 10 years ago when i was a nipper they used to ask me all the time - think they thought i was upto no good - the once i remember snagging up all of my bombs in a session so i turned to using a pair of scissors (YES scissors) as my leger weight!! haha brilliant!! i was soooooooo scared he would ask to see my terminal tackle, he didnt, he just said he would sit by to watch for bites and give me some tips!! thankfully i didnt get a bite in the 30-40mins he was there!! but anyway back to the subject!! i think it is a brilliant idea!! i always laminated all of my licenses and club tickets but still it was large and cumbersome. Just got to get my club to do the same now and i'll be happy!! Secondary - what the hell would be wrong with a carp being on the card?!?! I find it quite pathetic that people who do not find modern carping methods and the people who employ them to their taste mocking an entire species !! it is not my cup of tea however if it wasnt for carp i wouldnt enjoy my fishing as much!! I am not overly enthused about piking but i do not say silly, childish things like 'i would not buy the license if there was a pike on it' - 'those silly pikers dont know anything about REAL fishing' Rant over!!!

Not if you mix it adding the water very gradually and then seive/riddle the mix, it shouldnt!! and also modern method mixes are mostly about attraction and not food content, older ones are the other way round. I believe the particles to be bulkier in brown crumb than method mixes, even though most modern method mixes are ground pellets!!

Possibly the worst landong of a fish on a pole I have ever seen!! and I have seen some interesting attempts!!

part boiled potato!! I use it on waters that do not allow pellets. Part boil them so they are still firm enough to hook!! they are very easy to colour and add flavour to!! and can make all sorts of sizes and shapes, i use little barrels (hair rigged) on the feeder and straight hook them on the pole!! killer meat bait is polenta sausage as it is soft and easy for fish 2 suck in!! i once made a paste out of a strawberry nutrigrain bar and caught well in the margins with it, this was meant to be for me but i thought i would have an experiment. a guy in my club uses a tin of mixed beans from tescos same as corn really and he rings the changes of the hookbaits, im really tempted to give this one a go!!

I do not think that it is that anglers are careless!! i think it is just that some people are careless, selfish and simply rude. Those people also happen to fish aswel, like anything else, sometimes i go to people rugby clubs and see litter hanging around because they are these kind of people!! it is just a shame angling has such an effect on wildlife and environment.

Yes I did......... only got 3 hours in the end though!! urm hence me not posting not too much luck!! I was doing something right I had 3 viscious takes in about 6 different swims but 2 didnt connect and one spat the hook mid fight?!?! shame they felt decent fish!! has spured me into trying again though!! was fishing luncheon meat for 1 take and 8mm halibut pellet for the other 2, this was over a 60/40 mix of brown crumb and crushed halibut pellet groundbait with a load of old pinkies thrown in!!

But if you are spending money you are not saving it!! Surely to beat the credit crunch you just don't buy any new tackle!! you are not saving money by spending it!!

Right, as you may/may not be aware I am a complete novice when it comes to river fishing - especially in the winter months!! I fancy hitting the teme/severn meet this sunday with the feeder/leger could anyone please give me some hits as to rigs, baits and any general hints on pulling out some form of pisci!! much appreciated
