  1. Here are some waters close to Heathrow: http://www.go-fish.co.uk/middlesex.htm
  2. Whilst clubs make a point of putting up "Private Fishing" notices around/along a water, I don't come across any detailing close season dates issued by the authorities. Surely this is where a proportion of license fees should be allotted. To the very casual angler who thinks all close seasons are now scrapped, surely this would hit the message home.

  4. Hi Janet, I personally know absolutely nothing about Lancashire fishing/camping venues but I do drag this handy link out whenever someone is scratching their head for somewhere to fish: http://www.go-fish.co.uk/lancashire.htm It caters for every UK county and I've managed to find places on my doorstep in E Sussex didn't know existed. Good luck.
  5. With eels being predominantly a river dweller, you're timing is terrible. The close season for river fishing starts today until June 16. However if you can wait a few months check out these links to fishing in the Metropolis http://www.go-fish.co.uk/london.htm you'll have better luck in the summer anyway.
  6. The Chelmer for pike and silvers. Gonna try the new Storm lures my boy got me for Christmas.
  7. This might help you http://www.go-fish.co.uk/durham.htm
  8. Here's a listing of Kent waters http://www.go-fish.co.uk/kent.htm where i see one or two are holiday parks. As for tackle hire, I've never come across this for freshwater fishing so you might have to consider buying a couple of outfits. Lidl have a fishing tackle sale on the 9th - basic gear but dead cheap.
  9. Similarly, I always stick an oxo cube or two in a small swim feeder.
  10. Yeah, definitely The Friendly Fisherman in TW. Great stock and brilliant advice.
  11. No good for pike anyway as they don't hunt by 'smell' like some pred species do. Is that true Newt? I had heard, more than once, that pike were quite partial to aniseed.
  12. If you don't fancy it, don't go. Simple. I can't stand eels so I don't fish for them. Why are you soul searching?

    I use this one http://www.accuweather.com/ukie/forecast-w...NL&metric=1
  14. Very useful Paul, thanks. We'll be going on Feb 28. Don't know about the long range weather forecast but hoping it'll be a bit better than of late.
  15. Hi, does anyone know a decent day ticket stretch?
  16. I've experienced the same thing when ledgering a deadbait at Weirwood Reservoir. As far as I know there aren't any eels or crayfish here. Didn't get any takes, just a constant mini tugging on the line. Wonder if it would help to give the bait a bit of buoyancy?
  17. Here's a pretty comprehensive listing of day ticket waters in Kent. http://www.go-fish.co.uk/kent.htm Hope it helps.
  18. I've found being a member of a club a bit boring, in that you get to know your club waters inside out. Have a look at these waters http://www.go-fish.co.uk/sussexeast.htm maybe some are dirt cheap. The Rother at Blackwall Bridge, Wittersham for instance is only a fiver a day.
  19. Hi Jon, certainly hope to make it. Any info on where the pike are being caught in East Sussex at the moment?
  20. It used to be known as Holts Farm and is in Crowborough. Two lakes, mainly carp. Not too sure about the record perch thing. Our club had it during the 90's and I fished it often, catching mirrors and commons to c15lb. For up to date info speak to Sandra at Crowborough Tackle http://www.crowboroughtackle.co.uk Tel. 01892 662341. I know she fishes there. Not cheap though.
  21. I understand that it's used as a back up system. If the pike doesn't make a direct hit and the fish gets away it can follow the blood flow from its prey. That does makes sense.
  22. I should have said I bled incessantly. Rod bag covered in blood and all this from one tooth which left a scar. If it was a girlie scratch I wouldn't have mentioned it.
