  9. Hi Paul, is a bog standard dial up connection, it used to work previously when I had both boxes on 98. They have both since been reformatted etc so there is no trace of previous connection sharing settings hanging around to screw things up ( microsplot is good enough at that without any help ) Terry
  10. I can see that it is a hard 1 to sort out..................
  11. Ok I'm on a dial up connection and have 4 computers connected to the hub (only 2 in regular use of the internet)There are 2 possble sets of readings for the client computer pics below, the 1st is the setting that windows put in, the second is the alternative These are the settings for the host, 1st is default etc... Cheers Newt Terry
  12. Does any one know how to set up ics from win me to 98se? I've got the stuff setup as microsplot wants it, but now I need to know how it should be If I enable ics, I cannot browse the net from either machine  So now I still have to put up with the monster of the house using my puter when I want to (still a big boot always works to get it back well either that or pulling the plug ) Have I wasted 9 quid on the hub or.......... can anyone recomend some other ics software that will do the job without hassel cheers Terry
  13. Too true Chris, Pc World wanted to have my sister's computer in for 2 weeks for testing and repair for a strange beeping noise then a total shut down for "no reason" after around 3 - 4 mins operation (bear in mind that this was a new pc.... well 3 months old and she hadn't bought the extended warranty) Anyway after listening to the problem over the phone, I asked her to bring the box over to me to put a new processor cooling fan in it. Problem fixed. But..... why should they need it for 2 weeks??? Terry
  14. You will find that with a PC World computer, the O/S install files are normally on a hidden partition on the hard drive. This is activated by the recovery disc. I can't remember if you have the option to reinstall tho or if it is a full wipe out of your system. You should be able to boot from the disc and get an options menu. Hope this is of some use and you will be able to restore Outlook Express Terry [ 09. November 2002, 07:41 PM: Message edited by: tj2 ]

I also changed my living environment for the 1st 2 weeks (went to Oz to visit rellys ) But they really did help when I needed the nictine hit. After 30 odd years of dependance, I have now managed 7 months without Terry

The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem with one of the main computers. He dialed the employees home phone number and was greeted with a child's whispered, "Hello?" Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to a youngster the boss asked, "Is your Daddy home?" "Yes", whispered Little Johnny. May I talk with him?" the man asked. To the surprise of the boss, Little Johnny whispered, "No." Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?" "Yes", came the answer. "May I talk with her?" Again Little Johnny whispered, "No." Knowing that it was not likely that a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person who should be there watching over the child. "Is there any one there besides you?" the boss asked the child. "Yes", whispered Little Johnny, "A policeman." Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?" "No, he's busy", whispered Little Johnny. "Busy doing what?" asked the boss. "Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman", came the whispered answer. Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the ear piece on the phone the boss asked, "What is that noise?" "A hello-copper", answered the whispering Little Johnny. "What is going on there?" asked the boss, now alarmed. In an awed whispering voice Little Johnny answered, "The search team just landed the hello-copper!" Alarmed, concerned and more than just a little frustrated the boss asked, "Why are they there?" Still whispering, Little Johnny replied along with a muffled giggle, "They're looking for me!"
  22. The pope was taking a limousine to the airport. Having never driven a limo, he asked the chauffeur if he could drive for a while. Well, the chauffer didn't have much of a choice, so he got in the back seat and the Pope took the wheel. He accelerated to about 90 mph. WHAM! the blue lights of the state highway patrol flashed in his rearview mirror. He pulled over and a officer came to his window. When the officer saw who it was, he said, "just a moment, please, I need to call in." The officer radioed in and asked for the chief. He said, I have a REALLY important person pulled over and I need to know what to do. "the chief replied, "who is it? It isnt the governor is it? asked the chief. "no, even more important," replied the officer. "it isn't President Bush is it?" asked the chief. "no," replied the officer, "even more important." The chief shouted, "well, WHO the HECK is it?" The officer said, "I dont know for sure, but I think it might be Jesus, because his chauffer is the pope! Thanks to-www.giveit2me43.com [ 12. October 2002, 06:51 PM: Message edited by: tj2 ]
